What Makes Teenagers Happy? An explorative study of Indigenous Psychology approach

The aim of this research is to explore the things that make teenagers happy. The method used in this research is survey research. Data is collected from 467 high school students (male= 90, female=269, and 8 students didn’t indicate their genders) that accompanies the open ended questionnaire developed by Kim & Berry ( 993). The sampling used in this research is the non random sampling technique.

The data analysis in this research is conducted by analyzing the subjects’ answers. Which categorized and coded for each category? The respondents’ answers were analyzed using descriptive analysis method. The result showed that there are three elements of the source of teenager’s happiness, which are: ( ) relations with others (50. %) consisting of events concerning their families, relations with friends, and the events of loving and being loved. (2) Self ful llment (32.67%) consists of events related to achievements, the use of leisure time, and money. (3) Relation with God (9.63%) consists of spiritual events that involve the relations between teenagers and God.
